Golden Pomfret or Kim Chio caught At Woodland Jetty 2013

Golden Pomfret or Pompano [Xenobrama microlepis] also know as Kim Chio 金鲳魚 [Chinese] or Bawal mas kapak [Malay] They average between 500gm to 1kg in size and have no teeth. They are beautifully colored with a slightly yellow under belly and are bottom feeders. They eat the small shell crustations that inhabit the sand bottoms or prawn meat and sometime they eat bread mean for mullet.

Sunday morning Ah Heng told me that Ah Chai got alot hits but landed 7 Golden Pomfret or Kim Chio 金鲳魚 on the last 2 hours of a rising tide. At Noon Ah Huat came and I told him the info but it started to rain and after the rain he manage get some fresh prawn and off he went fishing at first hour of a falling tide. Not for long he got his first hit and follow by 4 more hits but manage to land 2 Golden Pomfret or Kim Chio 金鲳魚. Ah Cheong and Ah Hwee was there also with life prawn they got more then 10 hits but manage to land 6 Golden Pomfret or Kim Chio 金鲳魚.
